The classroom
Our classrooms are designed to meet the needs of the individual student, from preschool through upper elementary. Our classroom environment is beautiful, orderly, furnished with appropriate-sized furniture, and equipped with attractive Montessori materials. Many of the materials are designed to be self-correcting to encourage practice and mastery.
Primary (Preschool & Kindergarten)
Lower Elementary (Grades 1st to 3rd)
Upper Elementary (Grades 4th to 6th)
Our Montessori program has two extended work periods in which children are free to choose, move, and manipulate materials with guidance from our experienced Montessori teachers. Large group discussions and small group collaboration are also key components of learning here.
Music & Spanish
Special programs in Music and Spanish complement our core curriculum. Third graders take part in tennis lessons throughout the year. All students also take part in curriculum-related field trips and other experiential education.
Learning expectations for our students:
- To develop a solid academic foundation and a desire for lifelong learning.
- To develop independent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- To become an integral member of a respectful school community.
- To view the world as a vast, mysterious and inspiring place, replete with opportunities for intellectual and emotional growth.
